On October 22-23rd I exhibited Little Death Issue 1 at the Massachusetts Indie Comic Expo. It is a huge honor that my story was admitted into a space of legitimacy and visibility by the Boston Comic Arts Organization. I recognize that for storytellers tackling difficult subjects in our work, this opportunity gives me a real life chance to represent art that is widely misunderstood and vilified in online spaces. I am extremely proud to have been able to stand there and show Boston who I am and what Iām about. Thank you MICE for granting me this opportunity. I will definitely be applying for future MICExpos and possibly other cons as well!
I was treated well by staff and by the Co-Director of MICE, Dan Mazur, who assured me that my comic, although geared toward mature readers, would definitely find an audience at MICE. He was correct about that. I still donāt know how many copies of Little Death issue 1 I sold last weekend, since I havenāt made a full accounting yet, but it was enough that I did more than just break even. I also had wonderful conversations with adult readers who were relieved to find work like mine at MICE. I met some of my local art heroes, who gave me words of encouragement, too. The crowd was kind, respectful and responsible, which I am grateful for. Now that I have tabled at one con, I feel much better prepared to handle my next one.
My table had only one comic book, but I brought tons of eye-catching merch which included stickers, soft gloss prints, postcards, and linoprinted totes & shirts. If you were unable to make it to MICE, there are still a few saved on my online shop: https://pompoison-studios.square.site
Thank you MICE! A special mention and thank you to my dear friend Dumby for supporting me through the entire con. She brought me meals while I tabled, helped me communicate my needs to MICE staff, watched my table while I used the restroom, and prepared the most delicious veggie pasta dinner with baby bella mushrooms and asparagus on Saturday night when I was too wiped out to cook for myself. Iām so grateful you were there and did so much, Dumby!
And thank you to Jack Turnbull, my tablemate in the Brookline room, for words of wisdom and encouragement. Iām sure we will meet again. Till next con!
Big day for a beginning comic creator: hauling 2 crates full of my book babies and sending them out into the world. š Preorder customers: You will have gotten an email from me with your tracking number. Each parcel has a hand written note and a handmade gift sticker. Thank you so much, everyone!š
On October 22nd-23rd Iāll be tabling at MICE! Preorders for Little Death Issue 1 will close on October 20th at midnight EST. Then regular orders open and the price changes from $15 to $20. If youāve been pondering snagging yourself a copy, I suggest you take this opportunity!
While Iām still figuring out a display for my new online shop that isnāt horrendous, you can find my handmade prints, stickers, and books right here! https://pompoison-studios.square.site/
I was primarily using Etsy for my e-commerce, but with all of the opaque seller fees they were taking, I realized they arenāt the gold standard anymore for small sellers. My Etsy store, https://etsy.com/shop/pompoison is still active, but Iāve made those prices higher to direct interested shoppers to my much more reasonably priced store.
This gallery contains R-18 art mixed with general art. Trigger warning for the following themes: noncon, gore, incest, monsters, tentacles, werewolves/beasts.
Iām excited to announce that Iāll have a small table at MICE this October 22-23!
Admittedly, I have never done a con or anything like this because I was always a bit shy of them (Ellery and I have imposter syndrome in common). If you have any advice for displaying artwork at a small table, let me know! I requested a small because I honestly didnāt think Iād get in (imposter syndrome at work!) but I have loads of work to show including, but not limited to: traditional prints, digital prints, and the Little Death Issue 1 physical comic.
If you see me there please come and say hi! I am a friendly tomato~
